Toned Facial Muscles and Disco Balls: How This Content Creator Is Preparing for a Milestone Event

Beauty

Rachel Martino knows how to throw a party. It’s a skill she’s honed as the founder of Dream Loft Studios, an events space and photo studio in Brooklyn that turns two this year. To celebrate the milestone, she’s—of course—throwing a disco-themed fête in the space. “I have a great team to lean on, and we work together to make our events a success,” says Martino. Dreaming up decor, curating a rack of potential outfits, and getting her skin photo-ready are all on the to-do list.

A key step in the latter game plan is Emface, a non-invasive treatment that targets facial skin and muscles simultaneously. “Getting your skin in tip-top shape is a marathon, not a sprint,” she says. For the anniversary event, Martino’s goal is to achieve a “youthful, lifted, and smooth” complexion, and Emface is making it a reality: “I’ve noticed that my skin feels tighter, and I look more rested and refreshed.”

Here, the content creator pulls back the curtain on how she’s prepping for the big day, starting with Emface.

Step 1: Glowing Skin

“I was interested in getting Emface prior to the event because of its subtle but impactful results, which is always my goal when it comes to my skin,” says Martino. “I never want to look back on photos and feel like I don’t look like me. Emface just makes me look like the best, most snatched version of myself.”

The 20-minute treatment is administered in a four-session series and combines radiofrequency (RF) energy and HIFES technology to boost collagen, improve elasticity, and tone facial muscles for a lifting effect. “It’s like a workout for your face,” explains Martino. “During treatment, the sensation feels warm and kind of funny at first, but it doesn’t hurt at all.”

And the outcome has made her feel more confident and camera-ready. “I would definitely recommend this treatment to anyone preparing for a big event,” she says. “It’s something you can get on your lunch break—quick and easy, but the results are pretty amazing.”

In addition to Emface, Martino is focusing on staying consistent with her skincare. “I don’t like to experiment with new products close to an event, or use anything that may throw my skin out of balance,” she says. Her pre-event routine includes a gel-based cleanser, a light moisturizer with hyaluronic acid, a vitamin C serum, and SPF during the day.

Step 2: An On-Theme Outfit and Feature-Enhancing Makeup

“Dream Loft Studios is really an extension of me and my brand,” says Martino. “I call myself the ultimate girly-girl, and the space reflects that. And this event is a great opportunity to showcase it in action—so I definitely want to make sure that I look on-theme.” While she has plenty of disco-inspired outfit options in mind, she plans on letting the “vibe of the event day” determine the winning look.

For makeup, she’ll be sticking to her go-tos. “I know what beauty look works best for me, so I really don’t stray from it, even for a big event,” she says. Some of her signatures are rosy cheeks, long lashes, and—her trademark—a vibrant red lip.

Step 3: Disco Decor and a Signature Cocktail

“What I love about hosting at the studio is that the decor is really all built in,” says Martino. “It has a huge disco ball hanging from the ceiling, and we already have so many disco-themed pieces, like mirrored-tile cherries and a mannequin head, so I loved the idea of continuing to lean into that theme.”

Another aspect that has required minimal planning is the signature cocktail. Martino worked with a local bartender on crafting a bespoke drink for Dream Loft Studio’s opening party two years ago and is bringing it back for this occasion. “It will be free-flowing all night long,” she says.
