Kendall Jenner Ignored California’s COVID-19 Mask Mandate While Leaving Dinner Out in L.A.

Despite Los Angeles’ safer-at-home order and the city’s surge of coronavirus cases, Kendall Jenner went out to dinner again on Friday with her friend and preferred platonic date Fai Khadra, this time at Giorgio Baldi instead of her usual spot Nobu Malibu. On her way out of the restaurant, she opted not to put her mask back on, despite California’s mask mandate in public spaces. Paparazzi photographed her as she walked to her car, escorted by a man wearing his facial mask (seemingly her bodyguard). She wore a gray bodycon dress and carried her black mask. It wasn’t a long walk—at least what was filmed of it by paparazzi—but it was one where Jenner was in the vicinity of people she couldn’t necessarily stay six feet away from.

Under California’s mandate, citizens are required to wear a mask in all indoor public spaces and whenever they cannot stay six feet away from other people outside. According to the state’s COVID-19 guidelines, masks can be taken off in public in cases where you are “eating or drinking; if a hearing-impaired person needs to read your lips; if wearing a face covering imposes a risk to you at work; when you’re not sharing a common area, room or enclosed space with others; when you are getting a service to the nose or face; [and] when outdoors in public and can stay six feet from others.”

“You should replace the mask as soon as you can after these activities to reduce the risk of infection,” the state finishes.

During her previous Nobu Malibu dinners, Jenner has worn a mask when paparazzi has snapped her. The photos that came out of the Giorgio Baldi encounter—Jenner maskless and all glammed up for dinner out—didn’t impress many on social media. “No mask, not quarantined, having dinner with someone outside her house while CA and LA specifically are seeing exponential Covid cases and are on the verge of another lockdown,” one user wrote on Instagram. “Totally selfish and not at all surprising.”

But this isn’t the first time Jenner has gotten attention for disregarding her state’s coronavirus pandemic guidelines. During both occasions Jenner was photographed out at Nobu this month, she went with friends, some of whom weren’t quarantining with her.

Los Angeles is currently asking all its citizens to stay home “as much as possible” to help combat the spread of COVID-19. The city and state also advise residents to remain masked and six feet apart when socializing with people who are not in their household or quarantining with them. Obviously, Jenner can’t do this when she is eating out with non-household members, especially if their seats aren’t six feet apart.

Jenner’s most striking offenses have been travel-related though. California is currently under a non-essential travel ban. Despite this, Jenner has taken two very public vacations.

Back in April, Jenner went on a seven-plus-hour road trip to Sedona, Arizona with NBA player Devin Booker. They were not quarantining together.

According to TMZ’s source, Booker and Jenner took some precautions. “Kendall and friends have a small social circle amongst the group, who have been following the same social distancing and physical distancing guidelines,” the source said at the time. “Devin is a friend and is part of the small group. They took a road trip for some much-needed air.” (Kendall lives in a 6,625-square-foot Beverly Hills estate, for what it’s worth.)

Earlier this month, Jenner went on vacation to Utah’s five-star Amangiri Resort with Khadra, her sister Kylie Jenner, and more friends. In photos she shared of the Utah getaway, no one was masked despite not all being from the same household:
