Love that for them.

In case you needed any more proof that Schitt’s Creek is the best show on television, the Canadian program has just broken the nominations record for the Canadian Screen Awards. Raking in 26 nominations in total, it is the most nominated show in a single year in the awards’ history.

Dan Levy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara and former FASHION cover star Annie Murphy are all nominated in the lead actor/actress categories, whilst Chris Elliot (Roland), Dustin Milligan (Ted) and Noah Reid (Patrick) are nominated for best supporting actor, and Emily Hampshire (Stevie), Jennifer Roberstson (Jocelyn) and Sarah Levy (Twyla) all scored nods in the supporting actress category.

Additional nominations include three nods in the best directing category, four for best comedy writing, two in best picture editing, one for best sound, one for best production design/art direction, one for best photography, one for casting, one for costume design, and one for best achievement in hair. Finally, the show is also nominated for best comedy series, going up against Jann, Kim’s Convenience, Letterkenny and Workin’ Moms.

The show (which is currently in its sixth and final season) has enjoyed huge success in Canada and beyond in recent years. It was nominated as a series at the 2019 Emmys, and O’Hara and Eugene also both received acting nods.

Last month, Dan Levy hinted that a Schitt’s Creek movie could be in the works at some point in the future. “I just think it has to be the right time and it has to mean something. We have to have a reason for it,” he told press at a Television Critics Association panel, adding that he hopes “there comes a point where it feels necessary to continue to tell that story.” So do we.
