7 Love Letters To The Best Foundations For Combination Skin

If I die, bury me in this tinted moisturizer and foundation hybrid. The breathable formula never feels too heavy, and it evens out my skin tone without making me look like I belong in the circus. It’s hydrating but not oily, mattifying but not drying — the perfect combo for my combo skin.

A fellow friend in the combination skin community recommended this NARS foundation and I’ve been addicted ever since. I like coverage without cake, and NARS Weightless foundation delivers just that. It feels like a tinted moisturizer, light and breathable, but creates a full-coverage finish.

I’m just going to get this out of the way: I’m a Fenty Beauty stan. When Rihanna changed beauty forever a few years back with her 40 shades, I instantly became a loyal stan of the Pro Filt’r foundation. (I’m Shade 330 and 340, same as Rihanna, I know you didn’t ask.) The beauty brand recently launched a new hydrating long-wear formula, and I’ve switched out my classic for the new and improved. The extra bit of hydration does wonders for my dry patches. 

I’ll be the first to admit that it took me a long time to come around on foundation sticks. Tom Ford’s Traceless Foundation Stick was the stick to change it all. The best part of this beauty tool is its ability to build. I can go from sheer to medium to full coverage with just a few swipes. 

I don’t recommend working out or swimming in foundation, but when you must, go with this Dior Face and Body foundation. I have worn this to a HIIT workout class, and it didn’t move the entire dance cardio session. It’s light enough that it won’t break you out. Sashay away from next-day breakouts. 

I’ve been using this Bare Minerals foundation since I was 15 years old and have no intention to stop. It’s buildable, only includes five ingredients, and I live for the swirl and tap application. Here’s to the next 15 years!
