Kate Middleton Wore a Festive Green Outfit for the Queen’s NATO Leaders Reception

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and Prince William aren’t at Queen Elizabeth II’s reception dinner tonight for President Donald Trump and the other NATO leaders, but Kate Middleton is. The Duchess of Cambridge dressed up for the occasion in festive green outfit. This is not one of the rare occasions that Kate can wear a tiara. Tiara events are typically restricted to state dinners and banquets. The Duchess last wore a tiara in June for the state banquet the Queen hosted for President Trump’s visit then.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall are with Kate this evening.

Why aren’t Meghan, Harry, and William at tonight’s event with Kate? Meghan and Harry are on a break from royal duties this holiday, taking “family time” off. Kate’s husband William is on a four-day royal tour of Kuwait and Oman.

Meghan and Harry will not be spending Christmas with the royal family at Sandringham this year, their spokesperson announced last month. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month,” the spokesperson said in November. “Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland. This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”

Kensington Palace hasn’t confirmed Kate and William’s holiday plans yet, but they are reportedly spending Christmas at Sandringham.
