Selena Gomez Finally Confirms New Music Is Coming With a Bunch of Social Media Posts

The Selenator sleuths had it right: That childhood photo Selena Gomez posted Wednesday with a cryptic, lyric-like caption truly was her teasing new music imminently coming. Gomez went into full-fledge promotion today, first sharing a modern-day shot of her with another lyric-worthy line: “Rose colored glasses all distorted.” The shot was black and white, and she was wearing a veil, so make what you will about what that says tonally about her upcoming track(s):

Two hours later, she stopped playing coy about it: It’s new song time—and maybe even new songs. “I saw the signs and I ignored it. @spotify,” she captioned a video of a theater. Spotify, the music streaming platform, was tagged. And Spotify wasn’t the only one: Amazon Music is in on this too.

Gomez shared a video of a Times Square ad featuring her and Amazon Music. “Ask Alexa to follow me,” she wrote with the eyes emoji.

When is Gomez’s new music coming out? Unclear, but with this much promotion, it could even be midnight. Gomez hasn’t shared a specific drop date, but one thing is clear: It won’t be long until at least a single is here. (And Amazon Music hinted it could be tonight on Twitter, so…)

Gomez confirmed back in June that her album was finished. “I’m actually done [my new album],” she told Jimmy Fallon during her appearance on the Tonight Show. “I have to do a few finishing things with it but I’m just relieved. It took me four years now to even feel at a good place with this album, and it’s just because I had such huge moments that happened in my life personally that ‘how was I going to capture that?’ and ‘how was I actually going to feel good about what I was saying?’ So I just kept going, and I’m relieved.”

Gomez said genre-wise, the album is mostly pop. “I think there’s always going to be a sense of strong pop in my music, but I definitely explored more with electric guitar, a lot of more soulful tracks underneath things, acoustic guitar, it all kind of hits different places that I feel like is my lane for music,” she said. “It’s just, ‘live in that world and mellow.’”
