Her debut campaign launches today.
Today, Bianca Andreescu makes her debut in the world of beauty thanks to a new collaboration with US beauty brand P8NT. FASHION Canada can exclusively reveal the new partnership, which comes hot off the heels of the Canadian teen’s historic win at the US Open.
The brand is known for its collaborations with high profile athletes and inspirational women, so its partnership with Andreescu makes total sense. The match-up sees the tennis star feature in a new campaign (shot in Toronto) – and she also leant her hand to design, too. Speaking with us ahead of today’s launch, Andreescu said, “I helped customize a limited-edition collection box that would include three of your favourite shades from the collection.”
The box’s design has been directly influenced by her chosen career path. “The idea of the box including three polishes is inspired by the concept of a can of tennis balls,” she says.
P8NT’s focus on vegan products was an important factor for Andreescu, who says she tries to use vegan and cruelty-free products as much as possible in her own routine. “It’s just as important for us to be aware of the quality of products going onto our skin as it is to be aware of what we’re digesting. Supporting cruelty-free brands is an important step in the fight for more responsibly sourced and manufactured products.”
And speaking of her routine, the player says there are two products she rarely leaves the house without. “During the day, I’d have to say [my can’t-live-without product is] sunscreen. With as much as I’m in the sun, I try my best to protect my skin. In the evenings, I never leave the house without throwing a tube of lip gloss in my purse.” For Bianca, the world of beauty presents endless opportunities for exploration. “I’m always open to trying new products,” she explains. “The world of cosmetics is constantly evolving, and it’s fun to try out new looks.”
When it comes to nail polish, Andreescu says she plays around with different colours in order to “try to stay on theme with the tournament of the week.” For Wimbledon, she says, “You’ll catch me with a nice purple or green,” however when she’s off court her favourite hue is Dreamy. “It’s timeless and classic.”
P8NT has 16 long-wear nail colours in its line-up, as well as five matte liquid lipsticks, six lip glosses and four jumbo lip pencils, each of which is formulated with vegan ingredients. The company was started in 2018 by Darren Goldberg. Goldberg, who is a Canadian himself but lives in LA, is a former two-time Canadian junior tennis champion. As for why he wanted to partner with Bianca, he tells us, “I chose Bianca to drive this campaign because I was drawn to her charm, determination and will to succeed on the world’s biggest stage. It’s pretty astounding what she has accomplished within a short period of time on tour, and how she has succeeded in raising the spirit and pride in Canada as a professional athlete.”
