Some time ago, I let it slip that a celebrity brand created my favorite liquid eyeliner. I’m here to announce that that brand is none other than Haus Labs by Lady Gaga, which launched exclusively on Amazon in 2o19. When the brand launched initially, it felt like I was one of the few people who was a genuine superfan of the line. Over and over again, I warned people not to sleep on Haus Labs. No brag, but I did convince several people to try their eyeliners, which are still my go-to’s. But more on that later.

This was before their re-launch at Sephora earlier this year, this time with an emphasis on clean ingredients. Now, it seems like everyone is a fan of their products, most notably their foundation, which quickly went viral on TikTok. But I’m an OG user, and my standards are very, very high. As far as I can tell, besides their lip oil, the new line-up of Haus Labs products is almost entirely different from the original brand. Currently, Haus Labs has every makeup category covered, from complexion, to eye, lip, and cheek.

When selecting the products I wanted to review, the decision was shockingly simple. I wanted to do two things: compare 2.0 versions of products to the originals I loved, and try out new viral launches that my ‘For You’ page won’t shut up about. Ultimately, I decided to try these four products: PhD Hybrid Lip Oil, Triclone Skin Tech Foundation, Atomic Shake Lip Lacquer, and the Optic Intensity Eco Eyeliner.

PhD Hybrid Lip Oil

When everyone started joining waitlists and buzzing over the Dior Lip Oil, I sat smugly at home, wondering why no one was out buying Haus Labs’ version. (In my defense, I did tell you about it). I was a fan in 2019, and I’m happy to report that in 2022, Haus Labs still has this formula nailed. It gives just a hint of juicy color, while somehow making your lips look bigger and more hydrated, without ever feeling sticky, thanks to a combination of prickly pear oil and collagen. It comes in four colors and one clear version, but my favorite color is Secondary, a corally orange that looks like my lips but better.

Triclone Skin Tech Foundation

I’m not a huge foundation girl, but after hearing everyone in the world rave about this version, I needed to try it. It comes in a whopping 51 shades, packed with plant-derived ingredients like chamomile, green tea, and tiger grass, to name just a few. It’s a true medium-coverage liquid foundation, but you can thin it out for a lighter tint, or pack on product for a full mask. My opinion? It’s nice! It didn’t blow my mind, but since I don’t love foundation normally, I didn’t expect it to. If you are on the hunt for a new foundation, definitely give this one a try. The best part was the shade range–the color I picked ended up matching me perfectly.

Atomic Shake Lip Lacquer

Yet another viral product in the line, I needed to know everything about this long-wear lip product. I came of age when super-dry, matte liquid lipsticks were very in, which subsequently meant that there are too many photos of me where it looks like my lips have shriveled up and died of dehydration. Lacquers are the alternative, since they have decent staying power but don’t dry down matte, instead looking slightly shiny. Most of the time, though, lip lacquers either flake off throughout the day, or leave your lips sticky and glued together. Somehow, Lady Gaga managed to solve this issue, giving us a lacquer that actually stays all day, looks glossy, and doesn’t make your lips sticky.

Optic Intensity Eco Eyeliner

I chose to try this eyeliner, knowing I could come away incredibly disappointed. Along with Haus Labs 1.0’s original liquid liner, their gel liner is a must-have in my makeup collection. When I heard they were re-launching, I stocked up on the old versions just in case of heartbreak. I was relieved when I read the description of the 2.o version, which mentions intensity and staying power. My old version packs on pigment and never budges, to the point where it sometimes takes days to fully remove the eyeliner from my waterline. Unfortunately, to my great disappointment, this Eco Eyeliner just can’t compare to the original. Does it work? Sure. But the pigment in the black pencil looks gray on me, and it doesn’t stay in my waterline for more than an hour or two. Let’s just say, I’m glad I stocked up on the original version.

Eyeliner incident aside, I’m relieved and excited by Haus Labs’ re-launch. Their lip oil will continue to be a staple in my routine, their foundation deserves all the hype it’s getting, and I am currently searching for an online petition to sign to get Haus Labs to launch a liquid liner as good as the original. But when it comes to an innovative product with no dupes on the market, the Atomic Shaker Lip Lacquer is the obvious winner.

I can’t tell you the amount of people I have ambushed, desperate to show them the mind-bending abilities of this product. It looks like freshly-applied lip gloss but doesn’t come off on coffee cups or post-peck cheeks. The pigment is so intense I cannot wrap my mind around how the Haus Labs team created a product that does so much. There are currently six shades, but please join me in peer-pressuring their R&D team to keep adding more colors. I think I need every single one.
